Got Saito’d at a tournament today and bricked out of top 8. Again. :(
Kibler and Sullivan are talking about the mustache on that guy in the background instead of the game omg
another women in magic post
There is no way I could overstate how refreshing it is to read this article written by a woman. The fact that the major venues have consistently privileged men’s voices over women’s on this issue is even more upsetting and frustrating to me than the every day sexism that puts me on tilt at tournaments. Nice to see scg putting an article like this up. And many thanks to Jackie Lee for writing it.
type 1.5 is the best type

I’m going to Legacy Thursday tomorrow and I’m not sure which deck to bring. I might just bring Junk, which I played at the SCG Legacy Open in October, but I’m thinking about going back to “my” deck, which is counter/top. I feel so comfortable with it, you know? Here are the two decklists I’m considering, with the differences bolded.
My draws for this sealed PTQ are amazing. Geist of Saint Traft, gobs of removal, delver of secrets, bloodline keeper, ahhh! Too bad these are just the packs I cracked and I don’t get to keep these :(
The sheer volume of sexist abuse thrown at female bloggers is the internet’s festering sore: if you talk to any woman who writes online, the chances are she will instantly be able to reel off a Greatest Hits of insults. But it’s very rarely spoken about, for both sound and unsound reasons. No one likes to look like a whiner — particularly a woman writing in male-dominated fields such as politics, economics or computer games. Others are reluctant to give trolls the “satisfaction” of knowing they’re emotionally affected by the abuse, or are afraid of incurring more by speaking out.
An open letter to geek girls:
a sappy rant regarding the haters I’ve seen on tumblr the last few days.
I’ve been a geek all my life, even before I knew what the term meant. People might think it’s something you grow out of, and maybe you will, but for me and millions like me, we’ll be geeks ‘til we die.
Except sometimes, we have more to work against than tired old stereotypes. Some of us are women, and unfortunately, like in most areas of life, we’re looked at as less-than, told that we have to prove ourselves or act a certain way in order to be taken seriously.
It’s not a nice attitude, and it drives us away from otherwise enjoyable things.
There’s a point where someone tells you that you can’t be Superman in a game of pretend, that you shouldn’t have a Star Wars lunchbox, or a Transformers action figure. Because you’re a girl. And even if you don’t remember, you won’t forget how it made you feel.
And I have a sad secret: it doesn’t end when you grow up.
And sometimes, it gets worse.

celestialelixir asked: Hey. man. I saw your dungrove aggro deck and wanted to tell you basilisk collar actually isn't in standard D: Wasn't sure if you knew or not. Anyway, good luck!
Dammit! Fixing now. Thank you.
I’m going to States!
Thank god for Planeswalker Points. I am going to State with almost no knowledge or testing of the current standard meta. Well, that’s not really fair. I tested G/W tokens, bant pod, mono-red, solar flare and dungrove aggro for about four and a half hours last night, but I still feel unprepared. I’m bringing dungrove aggro because it’s the easiest for me to put together on the cheap (free! thank you, friends!) and everyone who would be able to loan me cards is playing those other decks. I need to practice a lot more — I wasn’t performing well against mono red or tokens, but I did pretty well against bant pod — and maybe change things up, but this is the decklist I’ll be running more likely than not on Saturday. Even if I don’t do great, I can still rack up some points! I also love the new points system because now I won’t drive 75 minutes only to 0-2 drop. Even when I’m not doing well it won’t hurt me to stick around and make the most of my entry fee. Decklist after the jump.
